In 2024 it was agreed unanimously by UET member countries that they will be new regulations regarding the whip that must be adhered to by all UET member countries by the 1st of April 2025
The 2 main points of the regulations are as follows:
1, The driver or rider has only the right to solliciate the horse by wrist movement.
2, Any movement of the shoulder or elbow is completely prohibited.
Fines and suspension will be given where the regulation is not adhered to.
Fines will increase depending on number of offences plus a Whip suspension will be issued.
Only 8 movements of the whip are allowed in total but only 3 are allowed on the home straight.
